It starts today

In a few hours I'll be seeing this

Photobucket

and be on my way to the Big Apple

Best parts of this vacation so far:
- Leaving work early today
- Knowing I don't have to go back there for two weeks
- Flying (maybe I'm a weirdo but I love it. It might be the peanuts and Ginger Ale)
- Easy Peasy check in at the airport (literally - 15 minutes or less)
- Free wi-fi at the airport
- Sitting on said wi-fi looking up all the awesome things we'll be doing in the next couple of weeks - it's making me even more excited
- Looking at the weather forecast for this week and seeing 78° and cloudy

Yep - this vacation is going to rock.

I LOVE fresh flowers - so does my mama - these were at her house and I couldn't resist snapping a few pictures.

Zucchini

When we planted our garden, since it's just Benson and I, we decided to keep it small. We only planted about 16 square feet and a plant or two of each type of vegetables except for carrots and tomatoes. Little did we know that a few months in we'd have an over abundance of Zucchini!

There's been zucchini ready to pick every few days so we've been eating it like crazy. So far we've tried it:

Baked with tomatoes and cheese

and roasted with onions and tomatoes

Next we'll be trying fried zucchini and zucchini bread.

Anyone else have good zucchini recipe we should try? We've got plenty to use up...

Mother's Day

Mother's day was such a busy but fun day. One of my favorite parts was putting together these pretty little vases for the special moms I have.

My mom loves flowers and always has fresh ones around the house, especially in the springtime. She's taught me that one of the best places to buy fresh flowers is Trader Joes. That's why it wasn't too surprising when while I was there shopping for these flowers for my mom she walked in looking for some as well. I had to try to sneak them in my cart and hide them from her - I don't know how sneaky I was but she was sure surprised when she saw them all put together in the vase. I think they turned out great as well!
