Heart Day

Benson and I spent our Valentine's day working in the yard and shopping the REI garage sale.
{that's our idea of romantic}

We found some great deals at REI then we headed home and roto-tilled, raked, weeded and planted.

We had a few plants, but mostly seeds. Come to our house in about a month and see some more of these! :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Grandma

Looking through pictures the other day I realized just how many treasures I have from my Grandma's and Great-Grandma's

Flowers from Grandma Wheeler's garden. As long as I can remember she has grown beautiful flowers at her house. I have always loved spending time in their yard looking at them.

My Grandma Beasley's wedding ring.
I love this. I wear it every day. It originally had diamonds in the center but they were taken out to make another ring. After my Grandma died my parents had these yellow sapphires put in for me as a present for my 21st birthday.

A book given to me by my Grandma and Grandpa Wheeler.
I love American History and am very patriotic so this book was a wonderful surprise to me.
It belonged to my Great Grandma Wheeler.

A sewing kit {that really belongs to my mom - I just borrow it. A lot.} That I believe belonged to my Grandma Beasley. I love looking at all the vintage thread and needle kits in there.
I also love the tape measure pinned just so -she pinned it that way and I probably wont ever use it for that reason.

Do you have any treasures from your grandparents?
What are they?
Are there any that you will pass along to your children one day?

Something in the water...

Is it me or is EVERYONE either
1. finding out they are pregnant
2. about to have a baby
3. just had a baby?
Really... what's going on here?
My lovely sister-in-law Shelly falls under the "about to have a baby" category
Her shower was last week - and she found out that people LOVE shopping for girls...
Her crib full of presents...
Blankets
from Grandma Garner

and Aunt Linda
Then came the most popular and surprising* gift of the day
baby Monkeys...

Shelly and June will soon be the proud owners of the entire collection of these bad boys.

Apparently they are collectors items and quite costly.

*no, Shelly did not ask for these

**Note to anyone who may be attending any future baby shower I may have:
Please, no monkeys.

Like a 1st grader after school...

I eat an "afterwork snack"
and it usually really is something a first grader would eat - like Graham Crackers and Milk.
I thought it was a good choice...

see - the box agrees...

I might grow up one day.
